Isle of Quel'Danas

The Isle of Quel'Danas is an island located north of Eversong Woods. It is most commonly reached by the direct portal from Shattrath City, once the Battle for Sun's Reach has completed on the island. Before the battle has concluded, players can reach the Isle by flying from Silvermoon City or Ironforge.

Eversong Woods is the starter zone for the Blood Elf race. It is a golden forest with typical high elf buildings. In the center of the map is a blighted strip known as the Dead Scar, a remnant from Arthas' battle against the High Elves. Quests involve learning about the blood elves' rich history, decadent lifestyle, and their struggles to keep the Dead Scar from growing.

Ghostlands is a low-level zone focusing on the alliance between the Blood Elves and Forsaken in pushing back the Scourge's presence. It is dark and shadowy with corruption throughout the land, culminating in Deathholme. It is also the site of the ancient Amani troll empire and the low-level reputation hub of Tranquillien.

Eastern Plaguelands is the more heavily devastated half of the Plaguelands, the remnants of the former kingdom of Lordaeron. The Scourge rules supreme in the Eastern Plaguelands, with its effects spread all through the land: Both earth and sky are of a sickly brown color, the trees are corrupted into poisonous mushrooms, and the air is permeated with an orange fog. The Argent Dawn maintains a small camp in Light Hope's Chapel, the only fully friendly settlement in the area,

Western Plaguelands is a plagued forest zone in northern Eastern Kingdoms. Together with Eastern Plaguelands, these zones form the Plaguelands, zones that were heavily affected by the Lich King's influence. The zone is filled with a gray mist, the flora is very sickly, and the fauna is corrupted, attacking anyone who approaches them with a lot of ferocity. The four main farms that once thrived in this zone are now home to cauldrons used to create more mindless Scourge. The city of Andorhal, once one of the prides of Lordaeron, now falls in ruins to the agents of the Scourge.

Alterac Mountains is a mountainous region in northern Eastern Kingdoms. This snowy region was the seat of power of the former Alterac nation, as well as the location of Dalaran, a mage city controlled by the Kirin Tor, currently encased in an arcane forcefield. After the fall of Alterac, the region outside of Dalaran was taken by Gordunni Ogres and the Syndicate rogues.

The Hinterlands is a grassy mountainous zone in northern Eastern Kingdoms. Hinterlands is home to both tribes of Forest trolls, including the Horde-aligned Revantusk Tribe, as well as the Wildhammer Dwarves, staunch members of the Alliance who live and train gryphons in the settlement of Aerie Peak. The forest troll tribes of Vilebranch and Witherbark make their homes here, as they revere their loas in the Altar of Zul and the temple of Shadra'lor.

Hillsbrad Foothills is a zone covered with hills in southern Lordaeron, central Eastern Kingdoms. This zone, covered in grassy hills and plenty of wildlife, is one of the only locations of Lordaeron that was left untouched by the Scourge, with the Alliance settlement of Southshore thriving here. This imminent peaceful feeling hides a story of many battles happening in Hillsbrad over the years.

Arathi Highlands is a plains region in Eastern Kingdoms. Formerly serving as the seat of power of the human nation of Arathor and their capital Stromgarde, nowadays fallen to a state of disrepair, Arathi Highlands serves today as a crossroads to Lordaeron, and a point of interest to both Horde and Alliance, who have settlements in Hammerfall and Refuge Pointe.

Tirisfal Glades is an eerie zone located in northern Lordaeron in Eastern Kingdoms. Formerly the seat of power of all of Lordaeron, nowadays the lands belong to the Forsaken, with the Lich King's curse seeping through everything. The sky in Tirisfal is eternally gloomy and dark, and the local flora is desperate clinging unto its last shreds of life. The Forsaken deal with a lot of adversity here, as the mindless minions of the Lich King roam across the land, as well as the insane Scarlet Crusade.

Silverpine Forest is a vast forest region on the western coast of Lordaeron, in northern Eastern Kingdoms. The woods surrounding Silverpine Forest are sickly and haunted, and eerily silent, save the roars from the more feral inhabitants of the region. Nowadays under the control of the Forsaken, Sylvanas Windrunner's deathguards roam through the zone, and the Dalaran forces to the south keeps any humans safe from the curses of the desolate region.

Wetlands is a large swamp region at the northern area of Khaz Modan, in central Eastern Kingdoms. As a classic swamp, Wetlands is covered in small lakes, rivers and ponds, and houses creatures usually found on a swamp such as crocolisks, murlocs, and bog lords. The Alliance has a special interest in Wetlands as it is the only region in Khaz Modan that is open to the ocean, and as such, they built a port city there known as Menethil Harbor.

Loch Modan is a rugged mountainous zone in the central part of Eastern Kingdoms, part of the Kingdom of Khaz Modan. Loch Modan is mainly known for its namesake lake and the Stonewrought Dam, a massive dam with dwarven faces etched onto its walls. This zone is mainly populated by dwarves, but many troggs also roam around Loch Modan's many archaeological digsites and mines.

Ironforge is the capital city of the Dwarves. It is am intricate circular cavern carved into the mountains of Dun Morogh, with a massive forge near flight paths at the center. It is primarily populated by dwarves, but there is a strong gnomish presence in Tinker Town, as well as humans traveling via the Deeprun Tram. It is quite popular for Alliance players to idle on the bridge between the AH and the bank to show off their new gear.

Searing Gorge is a fiery and rocky zone in the Khaz Modan region, in the Eastern Kingdoms. This zone is mainly dominated by Dark Iron Dwarves, who control part of Blackrock Mountain. However, not all Dark Iron Dwarves are hostile - In the northern ends of Searing Gorge, a group of Dark Irons that split from Dagran Thaurissan's control, the Thorium Brotherhood, make their home and offer assist to both the Horde and the Alliance alike.
Badlands is a desert region in the center of the Khaz Modan region. A harsh zone with dry earth, mountain ranges and many canyons, the zone is home to many conflicts, as the Dark Iron Dwarves wrestle with wildlife, the Horde maintains the fortress of Kargath, and dwarven explorers search for titan artifacts. Only the most resilient of creatures can survive in the Badlands, such as wild coyotes, vultures and troggs.

Burning Steppes is a rugged region full of crags and cliffs, and as harsh as the zone is, it serves as one of the only roads that connect Stormwind with the dwarven kingdom of Khaz Modan. Burning Steppes was part of the kingdom of Stormwind, but because of the kingdom's abandon towards the zone, it is now controlled by both the Dark Iron Dwarves under the servitude of Emperor Dagran Thaurissan, and minions of the Black Dragonflight.

Elwynn Forest is a formerly peaceful forest in southern Eastern Kingdoms. Although the zone has a very peaceful feeling, it is not without its dangers: Defias Brotherhood bandits and Kobolds infest several areas in Elwynn Forest. A bastion of the human kingdom, Elwynn Forest has many human settlements.

Redridge Mountains is an idyllic region of rivers and and risen elevations in the southern part of the Eastern Kingdoms. Redridge Mountains remains one of the last truly peaceful zones in the Eastern Kingdoms, as their inhabitants, mostly settled in the small city of Lakeshire, are under the protection of Stormwind. Although Blackrock Clan orcs have claimed part of the zone for themselves in Stonewatch Keep, they mostly keep to themselves.
Westfall is a low-level arid Alliance zone in southern Eastern Kingdoms. It used to be a tranquil farming area on the coast, but the Defias Brotherhood took the land from right under Stormwind's nose. With Stormwind's failure to care and reclaim the zone, crime now runs rampant as the Defias Brotherhood spreads its influence through the people of Westfall. Bandits and gnolls raid much of the little farm area that remains, making survival difficult.

Duskwood is forest in southern Eastern Kingdoms, twisted and warped thanks to the curse of the Scythe of Elune. Thanks to the Scythe that was lost there, Duskwood, previously a beautiful forest, became filled with a black fog, gnarled woods, and is now inhabited by both maddened undead and feral worgen. Although a very harsh zone, Duskwood is still inhabited by people who cling on everything they hold dear in face of extreme adversity.
Deadwind Pass is a haunted forest and canyon on the edges of the Kingdom of Stormwind in the southern Eastern Kingdoms. Medivh made his foreboding home in Karazhan at the southern end of the pass.
Swamp of Sorrows
The Swamp of Sorrows is a marshland in southern Eastern Kingdoms. As the ocean seeps into the land, the waters become brackish and in the ideal conditions for creatures such as raptors, crocolisks and alligators to thrive. However, the zone's harsh conditions and distance from Stormwind City made Swamp of Sorrows a good location for a forward base for the Horde, and they settled a base in Stonard. Stonard, rebuilt under Thrall's rule of the Horde, remains the only peaceful place in the swamp.

The Blasted Lands are a scorched zone in southwestern Eastern Kingdoms. The name of the zone is no mere coincidence, as it is home to the original Dark Portal, used by Medivh to unleash the Orcs into Azeroth for the first time. The magic invoked by the Dark Portal made the landscape an infertile desert, nowadays only inhabited by ogres and demons, as well as more resilient creatures such as scorpions and basilisks. The only settlement in Blasted Lands is Nethergarde Keep, an Alliance settlement responsible for maintaining watch over the Dark Portal.

Stranglethorn Vale is a vast rainforest in southern Eastern Kingdoms. For millennia, Stranglethorn Vale has been the home of the jungle trolls, with the Gurubashi Empire having its seat of power in Zul'Gurub. Although Stranglethorn is a beautiful zone, it is also very deadly, as it is filled with hostile wildlife, trolls and pirates. At the very south of the zone, the Steamwheedle Cartel settled in the city of Booty Bay.
